David Dahl
OMHS class of 2012: As a senior, Dahl batted .412 (35-for-84) with three homers, three triples, 11 doubles, 17 RBIs and 18 stolen bases as a high school senior. In 2012, the Colorado Rockies drafted him in the first round (10th overall). He made his major league debut in 2016. Dahl was elected to the NL All-Stars in 2019. Dahl currently plays for the Texas Rangers.
Toni Payne
OMHS class of 2013: Soccer. A Gatorade Alabama Player of the year, Payne ranked number 2 in the TopDrawSoccer.com listing for the South Atlantic Region and number 10 in the nation. An All-American in her Junior and Senior years at OM, Payne led the 2013 Girls Soccer team to a state championship. Payne went on to play for Duke University and considered “One of the most dynamic and skilled players with the ball to play at Duke” according to the university. Payne set many records while playing at Duke. After graduation, Payne signed with AFC Ajax (Amsterdam) and now is the first American to play for Sevilla FC (Spain). Toni has also made 6 appearances for the Nigeria national team and has scored an international goal.
Clark Powell
OMHS class of 2005. Soccer. Powell served as the Team Captain of the 2005 6A State Champion and National Champion Soccer team. After graduation, he played collegiate soccer for Wofford and named to the SOCON Academic All-Conference team. Powell is a graduate of UAB Medical School.
Chandler Hoffman
OMHS class of 2009: Men’s Soccer. Hoffman led OM to two state championships in 2007 and 2008 and played college soccer at UCLA. Hoffman is the first man from Alabama drafted in the first round of Major League Soccer SuperDraft. Hoffman has played for a variety of professional soccer teams including Major League Soccer and United Soccer League. Ahead of the 2019 season, Hoffman sits third on the USL Championship’s career goals list, with 60, and he was fastest to reach 50, while playing with the Real Monarchs in 2018. He also helped lead the club to the 2017 USL Regular Season Championship. After playing for numerous teams from the Los Angeles Galaxy to the Philadelphia Union, the Birmingham Legion brought him back to Birmingham to play where he scored 4 goals in 17 appearances. Hoffman has now moved on to Play for Orange County and the LA Force.
Donald McMahon
OMHS class of 2003: Basketball. McMahon is a Top-10 all-time scorer, top 10 all-time assists and led the Men’s Basketball Team to the Elite 8. McMahon serves as the Assistant Basketball Coach for OM Men’s Basketball team (since 2013). Last year he helped coach the team to their first ever State Championship.
The 2001 Varsity Softball 5A State Championship Team
The first team of any sport to win a state championship for Oak Mountain High School. Team finished with a 45-14 record. Offensively averaged 5.1 runs a game. The defense and pitching only allowed 1.9 runs per game. Also during the season, defeated the teams that would become the 6A and 4A state champions.
